Jeddah (Jeddah) is the capital of Jeddah Governorate, one of the governorates of Makkah Region. It is located in the west of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the Red Sea coast. The city is 949 km from the capital, Riyadh, 79 km from Makkah, and 420 km from Medina. It is the economic and tourist capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and is the first destination in the Kingdom for tourists, whether from inside or outside the Kingdom. Its population is 4,697,000 people as of 2021, and its total area is 84,658 hectares (846.58 km2), and it is the second largest city in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
